Merry Christmas!

The holiday has been super fun so far. Jenny and I spent some time with our friends the Mayhews. We also hung out with Marco and Melissa a bunch too. We've eaten lots and lots of good food (Korean, Thai, Moroccan, Mexican, and some really good cheesecake from our neighbors). On Christmas day, Jenny and I loafed around the house, ate, and watched movies... it was nice and relaxing.

One of the "Christmas gifts" we bought for ourselves was some new phones for the house. I was super excited to replace our old ones because the battery on those would die after about 15 minutes of talking or about 10 hours of sitting on the table. (they were like that when we got them new) Well, I plugged in these awesome new phones only to find they they wouldn't communicate with the base. I read the manual which told me they that "all phones ship from the manufacturer pre-registered to their base." Seriously?? Anyway, I found some instructions in the back on how to register them together in case something happened, but of course that wouldn't work either. All I got was "Registration Failed." I figured I'd email tech support and they'd give me a quick fix, but they replied with a phone number. I plugged our old phone back in hoping I could get a solution within the 15 minutes battery lifespan. Thankfully, they were quick with an answer and finally we have working phones! woo hoo!

Here's a picture I took while home for Thanksgiving. I framed it and gave it to my Dad for Christmas.

While Marco was over the other day, we recorded ourselves screwing around. Here's one sorta song. Keep in mind, Marco has only played drums a handful of times. He did pretty well on this one.

Next week we're off to Vegas to meet my brother and his girlfriend. We'll be staying there through the new year. I'll post some pictures when we get back, if I haven't gambled away my computer by then :)

Christmas is coming... and a song!

Hey all,

Things at work have been crazy and a bit stressful, but there's only 7 work days left till the holiday! Hopefully I'll get around to recording some more during my break. Also, Jenny started a facebook account, and her life is officially consumed. If she hasn't found you on there yet, I'm sure she'd like to hear from you... look her up.

Meanwhile, here's another song I actually finished a few weeks ago. I'm not sure I like it. I always like the 20 second idea-version that I start with, but somewhere in the effort to complete a full song, they seem to get generic on me. I don't know what to do about it. Anyway, I'll keep chugging away on these. Check out the song; and sorry Matt, this one does not contain a Nugent dueling-guitar solo... but there is a solo.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was super fun. I went home to Wisconsin, but had to leave Jenny behind. She couldn't take off as many days I as I could... sorry Jen. I got to see a lot of people that I hadn't seen for a long time. Since I got back, I haven't finished any songs, but I'm working on them. Here's a picture of my newest nephew and I. It has been brought to my attention that it demonstrates my lack of baby-holding skills.

Another Song

On Friday, the Fedex guy came by to deliver my recording interface about 5 minutes before I got home. It was his second delivery attempt and I really didn't feel like driving to Anaheim to pick up the package, so I put on my running shoes, grabbed my ID, and started running around the hood to hunt him down. Luckily, I found him just as he was headed out to the main street. Sweaty and panting, I ran into the street and started waiving my delivery tag at him; he looked confused, but thankfully pulled over.

When I got it home, I wanted to test all the inputs so I made up something quick...

California Sunset

When I left work yesterday, there was an awesome sunset, so I grabbed my camera. I thought I'd post the picture for you all to check out.

On the music front, my recording interface thing was sorta broken, so I mailed it in to be repaired. I should be getting it back tonight or tomorrow. I'll try to record some more this weekend and post it for you all.

First Post

I just started this blog so I could post some songs for you guys to hear. I recently got some recording equipment and have been trying to write more. This song is the first thing I've finished (well sorta finished). I pretty much had a verse and chorus, hit record, and started putting down tracks. Not a whole lot of thought went into it. As a result I think some of the guitar stuff got a little out of control, but.... hit play and check it out...
